Mr. David Miscavige Chairman of the Board,
Religious Technology Center
Opening Address
In honor of L. Ron Hubbard’s Birthday 1993

But tonight I want to show you a different view. A new view: Put yourself in a position where you are looking around in a world where there are no answers and you want to create a new path. You want to chart a road to truth.

     Well, what would it take?

As a matter of fact, what did it take?

About 10 years ago somebody wrote to L. Ron Hubbard and said they wanted to document this history.

His response at that time was, “Okay. You can put this together. But if this is going to be for an org public [i.e., Scientology Church parishioners], then they deserve to know the truth and not bubble gum.”

Tonight, we’re going to give you the truth—not the bubble gum.

You’ve seen pictures of L. Ron Hubbard in the early periods of his life. Do you ever remember seeing any with a typical child’s wild expression on his face?

     No, you don’t.
