Opening Address
In honor of L. Ron Hubbard’s Birthday 1994
Mr. David Miscavige opened the annual celebration of L. Ron Hubbard’s birthday at Scientology’s spiritual mecca, the Flag Land Base in Clearwater, Florida, with news of the growing popularity of L. Ron Hubbard’s Dianetics and Scientology technologies. This was punctuated by the unprecedented expansion in the previous twelve months, particularly in the former iron curtain countries, oppressed for so many years and now being given a chance to really think for themselves.
I can think of no better place to celebrate L. Ron Hubbard’s birthday than here in Clearwater, Florida, where the application of his legacy is more evident than anywhere else on earth.
In these last 20 years there certainly has been a lot of expansion. To give you an idea of just how far Scientology has come in those 20 years, consider these facts:
The volume of Dianetics and Scientology books placed in the hands of individuals in one week today is greater than the total for the entirety of 1974.
This year, more new countries were opened to Scientology than any previous year.
